Steps To Complete
Lightly spray the back of the organza with temporary spray adhesive, and smooth the heavy water soluble stabilizer on the back of the fabric. Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together, and embroider the design. For more details, see the Embroidering on Sheer Fabric tutorial. Once the design has sewn, remove it from the embroidery hoop and trim away the excess stabilizer. Soak away the remaining water soluble stabilizer according to the package instructions, then allow the fabric to air dry. |
Remove excess organza, leaving a 0.25" border around the top and bottom of the design. Do not cut the sides until the design has been secured to the candle. |
Use a blow dryer on high to heat the side of the candle and allow it to melt slightly. |
Press the design firmly so that the back of the design sinks into the melted wax. Allow the wax to cool. |
Repeat the two previous steps until the design is secured with in the candle wax. Then cut away the excess organza from the sides. Leave a 0.25" border. |
Your embellished candle is complete! Embroidery adds an unexpected touch of color and glamour to candles for any occasion. As a safety precaution, when the candle begins to burn down, peel the embroidery away. You can reapply the embroidery to a new candle if you wish. |
